Why “Modu”?
“魔都” (Módū, “the magic city”) is Shanghai’s nickname — it dates back to a 1920s novel about the city’s dazzling, slightly wicked glamour.
Our kitchen cooks 本帮菜, the home style of Shanghai: sweet-savoury soy braises, smoked fish, drunken and scallion-oil chicken, rice cakes and noodles. Next to them sit the Sichuan dishes Melbourne loves — boiled fish, mapo tofu, beef in fiery oil.

How do I book?
Book online for 2–10 guests, up to 60 days ahead. Same-day lunch can be booked online until 6:00 am; same-day dinner until 3:00 pm. After that, please call (03) 9548 8695.
